SQUAMOUS CELL HYPERPLASIA (Lichen Simplex Chronicus)

Can squamous cell hyperplasia (lichen simplex chronicus) of the vulva cause cancer?

Many chronic skin conditions that cause inflammation of vulva are associated with a slight increased risk of cancer of the vulva. This is one reason why regular visits to your doctor (preferably a vulvar expert) are important. If you notice any new raised, bleeding or non-healing areas on the vulva you should go to your doctor right away.
