Are there any long-term consequences to lichen sclerosus?
When you lichen sclerosus has been present for a long time, the vulva can become scarred. The scarring may cause you to lose the inner lips (labia minora) and the clitoris may become buried under scar tissue. When the clitoris becomes buried under scar tissue orgasm can become painful. The scarring may cause the opening of the vagina to become narrow making sex painful or impossible. In extreme cases it can even interfere with your urine stream. |
