Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus

What are the symptoms of vulvar lichen sclerosus?

The most common symptom is itching. The itching can sometimes be intense robbing the woman of sleep. Some women develop cracks in the skin (fissures) or sores related to scratching. This can lead to soreness and burning. The skin around the anus can split with bowel movements causing pain. The vaginal opening can become narrow from scarring making sex painful or impossible. In extreme cases it can even interfere with your urine stream. The thin-skinned can become fragile and easily bruised. Some women with lichen sclerosus have no symptoms.
