Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome (VVS)

Can injections directly into the painful area help relieve pain from vestibulodynia (VVS)?

Generally speaking, steroid creams do not help women with vestibulodynia, although occasionally, a trigger point injection of steroids and a local anesthetic may be beneficial for some women with vestibulodynia. Generally, the injections are given once a month and patients do not tolerate more than 3 or 4 injections. However the amount of steroids used each month must be limited.
