Human papilloma virus (HPV)

Does having HPV affect my chances of getting pregnant or having healthy babies?

Having HPV does not make it harder to get pregnant or stay pregnant. It is very rare that HPV will affect your baby. However, treatment for HPV (LEEP, cone biopsy, laser surgery or cryotherapy) may increase the chance that you will have premature labor in a future pregnancy. Since the treatment prevents cancer and the small increased risk is acceptable.
